Stellar's aquaculture technology includes proprietary methods for the reliable control of spawning, larval development, metamorphosis and grow-out and includes feeding regimens, seawater systems and cultivation habitats uniquely optimized for KLH production for Megathura crenulata.

Adult production animals are cultivated in Stellar's controlled environment aquaculture facility. Each closed recirculating aquaculture system is outfitted with its own temperature-controlled seawater delivery, mechanical/biological filtration, and UV treatment equipment. Megathura crenulata are maintained in our stable quality control environment through the use of tags or tracking and daily maintenance.

Stellar has developed an active hatchery and cultivation program that is capable of producing commercial scale quantities of juvenile and adult Megathura crenulata. The strong efficacy and safety profile of the KLH protein has led to the development of several promising therapeutic KLH vaccines to treat human diseases. Stellar's aquaculture and extraction technologies are designed specifically to address the needs of vaccine developers for sustainable supplies of KLH for commercial therapeutic products.
The company has an issued U.S. patent for its non-lethal hemolymph extraction method (the only method known for this animal).
